WESTON-super-Mare Town Council has announced the opening date for its new office.
The council is moving to its new location at 32 Waterloo Street, the historic old Mercury building, leaving its current location in Grove Park.
A soft opening will take place on July 8, the local authority has confirmed.
A spokesperson for Weston-super-Mare Town Council said: “We are pleased to announce that our office is moving to a new location at 32 Waterloo Street.
“The transition started on June 24, the soft opening will take place on July 8.
“During this time, we remain fully accessible via email and phone.”
A spokesperson previously said: “This move not only marks a new chapter for our council but also celebrates the restoration of this Grade II listed building, a cherished piece of national heritage.
“The careful conservation efforts underscore our commitment to preserving Weston’s history for future generations.
“The new office is a much-needed upgrade for our growing workforce, which has been working across two houses in Grove Park.
“With the devolution of services to town and parish councils nationwide, space has become a pressing concern.
“This new, central location will streamline our operations and provide a more efficient working environment.
“Our new office on Waterloo Street will make it easier for members of the public to visit and meet with our staff.
“The ground floor will house a visitor information centre, offering a wealth of local information for both residents and visitors.
“Additionally, the town council's new meeting room will be accessible to the public, fostering greater community engagement.
“We’re also pleased to announce that other local organisations will be joining us in this new space, promoting collaboration and community spirit.
“We look forward to welcoming you to our new home and continuing to serve the people of Weston from this historic and beautifully restored building.”
