A LLOYDS Bank branch in Worle is set to close as “most customers are now using internet banking instead”.
The branch on the High Street will close on October 15, 2024.
A document published on the bank’s website read: “Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch.
“Most customers are now using our mobile banking app, internet banking, or calling us instead.
“This means they are using branches, including our Worle branch, much less.
“Because of this, we'll be closing our Worle branch.”
A Lloyds Bank spokesperson: “As many customers now choose to bank through their mobile app or online, visits to our Worle branch have fallen over recent years.
"When the branch closes in October, customers can continue to manage their money online, by calling us, in person at our Weston Super Mare branch, or the local Post Office on Worle High Street.”
The nearest branches after the closure in Worle will be the one in Weston-super-Mare and the one in Clevedon.
The document also read: “Before we close a branch, we carefully consider and analyses how customers will be affected, including:
• How customers are choosing to bank with us
• How often customers use the branch and how this is changing. Including looking at trends in the year to February 2024 and the four previous years
• Current services available in the branch and the branch opening hours
• Visiting the branch to consider the location and understand the alternative ways to bank in the area
• Assessing the local transport services, and how often they run
• Reviewing the broadband availability in the area
• How our customers, including those who are vulnerable or may need extra support, would be affected
• We've shared our plans to close this branch with LINK who have independently assessed the access to cash needs of the local community on behalf of the Cash Action Group.”
The bank said they are contacting its customers to let them know about the closure, and they are also planning to contact several organisations and members of the community including the MP for Weston-super-Mare, the banking team, and senior representatives from the Post Office.
