THE Weston Hospicecare charity has announced the return of the annual Summer Fayre event.

This free family-friendly event will take place on July 27 at the Hornet’s Rugby Club in Weston.

Attendees will be able to join the event for free, and donations to support the hospice will be welcomed at the gate.

The Summer Fayre is a massive fundraising opportunity for Weston Hospicecare, last year £4,862 was raised throughout the event.

Funds raised during the event ensure the hospice is able to continue delivering care to patients and their families.

This year the local hospice is rolling out the red carpet for beloved children’s characters, Bluey and Bingo.

These BBC stars will be available to meet and greet and will be playing games with families at 11AM.

One of Weston’s favourites, Ade from Action Pussycat, will also be joining to party and close out the event.

Event attendees have a lot to look forward to as plenty of entertainment will be available, including bouncy castles, exciting games such as spin the wheel and hook a duck, and more.

Dance groups, choirs, and solo acts will also be performing during the event.

For animal lovers, Weston’s Donkeys will be providing donkey rides, and the Australian Healer dogs will be participating in party games and will be available for photo opportunities.

Weston Hospicecare is encouraging attendees to cycle to the venue, if possible, as this year it has partnered with Avon and Somerset Police to provide free anti-theft bicycle markings for cyclists.

These markings will provide an anti-theft number that can be used to track, and log bikes if stolen.

In addition to this families will also have the opportunity for their children to explore a police car and van on the day.

Local small business owners and traders will be selling their unique products and trinkets on the day at their own stalls.

Attendees can treat themselves to lovely items that have been handcrafted locally.

Business owners can sign up for a stall ahead of the event.

Looking forward to the event, Kirsty Simmons, community fundraising manager at Weston Hospicecare said: “We cannot wait to welcome back families and members of our community to our Summer Fayre event this July.

“Our 2024 event is expected to be even bigger than ever, supported by some special guests.

“The Summer Fayre is another great opportunity for locals to give back to the community, by donating to our hospice.

“Community support allows us to deliver palliative end-of-life care for our patients and families.

“The countdown to our Summer Fayre event has officially started, we look forward to seeing you all on the big day.”
