STAFF at a North Somerset care company are calling on people to join them for an annual fundraising event in support of a national Alzheimer’s charity.

The team at Right at Home North Somerset will be taking part in a seafront walk in Weston-super-Mare on Thursday, July 18 from noon in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Jasmine Frost, recruitment and marketing manager at Right at Home North Somerset, said: “Every year we hold a fundraising event for one of our partner charities and this year we have decided to take part in a four-mile walk along the picturesque Weston-super-Mare seafront. We hope lots of people will join us and offer us their support.

“We’ll be setting off from Weston’s Marine Lake at noon and will walk full circle back to the lake.

“It would be great to see some friendly faces along the way. Anyone is welcome to come along and join us on the walk and help raise money for a good cause.

“With our annual sponsored walk for the Alzheimer's Society, Right at Home North Somerset celebrates the unique journeys of those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia, raising awareness and contributing to the provision of tailored resources and support through the Society's vital work, exemplifying our deep commitment to person-centred care.

“Whether you choose to participate in the walk or support us through donations, your contribution will make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia.”

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, tackling all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future.

The word 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that over time can affect memory, problem-solving, language, and behaviour. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia.

There are currently more than 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia. It mainly affects people over the age of 65.

The likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age. One in 14 people aged over 65 has dementia. This rises to one in six for people aged over 80.

Right at Home North Somerset is dedicated to providing high-quality support for older and vulnerable adults in their homes.

Focused on both clients and staff, it prioritises maintaining a close-knit community, ensuring staff well-being, support, and continuous learning.

The company emphasises staff support through various initiatives like coffee mornings, buddy systems, and regular social events. It offers mental health support, professional development opportunities, and aims for staff continuity to build strong client relationships.
