A person has been injured after being trapped by a fallen tree branch near Ashcombe Park, Weston-super-Mare.
Emergency services responded to reports of a person trapped under a fallen tree branch in Ashcombe Park Road at 10.22am on Wednesday 5 June.
The casualty was airlifted to hospital after being freed from the branch. Avon and Somerset Police, Fire Service, and South West Ambulance Service Air Ambulance attended the scene.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 10:22hrs on Wednesday 05 June to an incident in Weston-super-Mare.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a tactical commander, a hazardous area response team and an air ambulance to the scene of the incident and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital. "
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Fire Service said in a statement: "Crews from Weston and Avonmouth were called to reports of a person trapped at 10:28 on Wednesday 5 June.
"On arrival, crews found one person who had been injured by a fallen branch.
"With ladders and cutting equipment in use, crews were able to remove the branch. The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by Air Ambulance colleagues.
"Police and council colleagues were also on the scene, and the area was left in the hands of council colleagues."
