OPERATORS have been named for three seaside kiosks in Weston-super-Mare.

Following a selection process, operators have been chosen for Sands Kiosk, Carlton Kiosk, and Clifton Sands Kiosk.

The selected operators for the leases are JRA & ML Cavaciuti, Starfish Catering Ltd and K&P Seaside Sales respectively.

Part of their duty will be to undertake maintenance, refurbishing, and running of the kiosks.

Royal Sands Kiosk, initially scheduled to restart operations under new leadership, will stay under JRA & ML Cavaciuti.

Carlton Kiosk (known popularly as the Cove Kiosk) will remain in the stewardship of its current operator, Starfish Catering Ltd.

The current operator, K&P Seaside Sales, also retains Clifton Sands Kiosk.

Changes are on the way as refurbishment work is slated to take place over the next year.

Both Clifton Sands Kiosk and Cove Kiosk will continue to open for the summer season, with repairs to deck space and visual appearance commencing later in the year.

Meanwhile, several cosmetic jobs are expected to be performed under the new operators of Royal Sands before the kiosk is finally reopened.

Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council's executive member for culture and leisure, shared praise for the lease renewals.

He said: "These three seafront kiosks are hugely popular with visitors and residents alike, so it’s fantastic news that new lease agreements have been signed for all three spaces.

"Residents will no doubt be particularly pleased that Royal Sands Kiosk is set to open its doors to the public once more."

Kevin Mager, owner of K&P Seaside Sales, expressed delight at continuing operations at Clifton Sands kiosk.

He said: "I’d like to say how happy we are to continue operating the Clifton Sands kiosk.

"It’s a bit special to us because we have run the kiosk for around 30 years."

Owners of Starfish Catering Ltd, Heath and Gemma Hardy, said: "We are over the moon to have been chosen to continue running the Cove, securing our existing business for the next 15 years.

"This will allow us to redevelop the site and offer a wider range to locals and visitors alike."
