All libraries in North Somerset will be closed on one day this month so staff can be trained to use a new computer system.
The closures will occur on Tuesday, May 7 from 9.30am till 2pm.
But all libraries will reopen as normal at 2pm.
However, registered customers will still have the Extended Access available at Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead, Winscombe, Worle, and Yatton libraries.
Customers can also continue to access eResources, make reservations, and renew items at www.librarieswest.org.uk with their library card and PIN, even during the brief closure.
The upcoming closure is part of preparations for a new computer system to be launched by LibrariesWest, a consortium of seven local authorities, including North Somerset Libraries.
Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member for arts and leisure, said: "We need to temporarily close our libraries on Tuesday 7 May so our staff can be trained in using the upgraded computer system.
"We apologise for any inconvenience that this brief closure may cause, and all libraries should be open as normal by 2pm."
This new system, expected to be ready by end of May, will also include an updated website and app.
Mr Solomon continued: "I hope the new system that’s being rolled out across LibrariesWest improves customers’ experiences of using our libraries.
"If you haven’t yet joined one of our libraries in North Somerset, it’s free and easy.
