EMERGENCY services were called to Weston seafront over the weekend to rescue a mother and child who were stuck in the mud.
Ambulance, police, the fire service, beach rangers and coastguard launched on Saturday, April 27, to assist the pair.
Speaking on Saturday, a North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson said: "Today officers were dispatched to an incident at Weston-super-Mare seafront where a mother and child were discovered stuck in the mud towards the tide.
"This required a multi-agency approach to assist in getting them out of the sinking mud - ambulance, police, fire service, beach rangers and coastguard were all in attendance.
"This resulted in the Fire Service's hover craft being deployed and successfully picking up both mother and child.
"Incidents like this can happen often, as we approach the summer months we urge members of public especially those with young children to make themselves aware of tide times and the danger of sinking mud.
"Be extra vigilant when enjoying your time at the beach.
"Thank you again to all services that assisted in the rescue."
