Redrow South West, a renowned housebuilder in Somerset, is ushering in an exciting new initiative for youngsters.
As part of its 50th birthday celebrations, it's recruiting for an innovative role titled 'Archi-tot of the future'.
Tasked with designing housing suitable for the year 2074, fifty years hence, the competition is open to imaginative four to sixteen-year-olds spanning the region.
The company, currently building at Woodborough Grange in Winscombe, is on a mission to seek young architectural novices willing to visualise a future proof abode.
Whether the design principles encapsulate a mood-dependent changing wallpaper, a self-cleaning bathroom or an automatically restocking refrigerator, the designs must be sustainable, energy efficient, and of course, in tune with ultra-modern domestic life.
Young participants can sign up for the competition by submitting their futuristic house sketches at redrow.co.uk/news-and-inspiration/news/national/design-our-future-homes.
The victor will be awarded £100 along with £150 in artwork vouchers that would be directed to their school or college.
Furthermore, the winning concept will be conserved in a time capsule at the nearest development site, to be discovered fifty years later.
The competition is open for entries until midnight, Friday, May 17.
The winning Archi-tot will team up with winners from other Redrow regions across the UK and stand their chance to be chosen as the nationwide winner announced later in the year.
Sales director at Redrow South, Sian Smith, said: "In our 50th year of housebuilding, we’re looking to the future by calling on Somerset and the South West’s most creative young talent to imagine what a home will look like in 2074.
"From convertible roofs for those hot summer nights, to self-tinting windows and robot gardeners who mow the lawn, we’re looking for the most adventurous and ambitious designs."
Ms Smith also said: "What better way to celebrate the creative talent of local youngsters and showcase the wonderful imagination and creative abilities of the next generation?
"Who knows, we could even put in a good word for the winner to become one of our new apprentices where they might find themselves building their design in years to come!"
Currently, Redrow South West has 12 developments spread across the region.
