Cabot Learning Federation has won a national sporting award.
The South West’s educational organisation claimed top honours for its trust-wide physical education provision, crafted to boost the life experiences of all its students.
It won the Outstanding Multi Academy Trust Practice Award at the Youth Sport Trust Awards 2024.
The federation, which presides over 35 schools throughout the South West region, was hailed for its success in promoting a commitment to not just exceptional physical education but well-being and school sports, too.
It bested over 120 nominated trusts, a fact made all the more impactful when their award was presented by double world and commonwealth champion heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
The collective effort of the CLF was savoured by judges, who gave special mention to the trust-wide Big events.
These are special occasions of sporting participation and arts collaboration that serve to create wholesome experiences for students.
Awards organisers said: "The CLF position PE, sport and physical activity at the heart of their culture.
"They have identified how a strong PE and school sport offer can be a key lever to improving life experiences of all students due to benefits it brings to physical, mental, and social wellbeing."
They acknowledged that these Big events, amidst other inclusive sports activities tailored for the trust, "are a wide range of joy-filled activities", that shape students' sense of self and can lay the platform for lifelong success, particularly for underprivileged students.
The ceremony held in Telford was a chance to commend those who have notably impacted the lives of young students.
James Mooney, the CLF senior curriculum leader for physical education said: "This is recognition of the work we have been doing collectively across the trust to ensure that all students receive a PE offer that promotes positive relationship with physical activity.
"As a trust we believe that sport is for anyone, but PE is for everyone; all young people are entitled to a PE, school sport and physical activity offer that not only meets their needs and promotes excellence, but more importantly is fun, engaging, and positive."
