A COMPANY run by a husband and wife team has made history at the Somerset Business Awards in Weston.
The Family Adventures Group, which was founded in 2019, won in three different categories, the first time any company has achieved the feat in the awards’ 19-year history.
Almost 400 businesses attended the gala evening, which was organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, at the Winter Gardens Pavilion on Friday, March 22.
The ceremony was hosted by Global and Heart FM broadcast journalist, Cormac MacMahon.
The Family Adventures Group won in the Medium Business of the Year, the Business Resilience and Growth and the Service Excellence categories.
Laura said: “We couldn’t be prouder to be the first company to win three awards on the same night in the history of the prestigious Somerset Business Awards.
“Each category was independently judged with different submissions, interviews and judges who make the final decision.
"It is one of the most comprehensive judging processes we have been through.
“We owe these awards to our incredible teams. The work they do every single day to support children and families cannot be underestimated.
“They are all superheroes, and we are beyond grateful to every single one of them and to our loyal customers who support us."
Tom and Laura were inspired to set up the business after having negative experiences visiting soft play centres with their young family.
The group owns and operates indoor play venues Ocean Adventurers in Cheddar and Space Adventurers in Taunton along with six Little Adventures Nurseries & Pre-School Group.
In May, they will be opening Little Town Adventures in Weston.
Speaking further about the Weston branch, Laura said: "We could not be more excited to be launching our next innovative leisure venue in Weston-super-Mare and are this time bringing a world-first play concept to market following the success of our multi-award-winning Ocean and Space Adventurers venues.
“The combination of role play, theatre, and escape room-style activities enhances cognitive development, social skills, and creativity, making it an exciting, truly holistic and educational adventure for children.
“Little Town Adventures will be an innovative fully immersive miniature Weston-super-Mare putting learning and fun at the centre of the experience."
