THE completion date for the bus improvement works at the Brockley Combe junction on the A370 has been pushed back to early April 2024.
The scheme, which was set to finish mid-March, has been delayed due to unexpected additional drainage and technical issues relating to resurfacing.
As a result of the delay, the works planned at Wood Hill will not start before mid-April.
Over the Easter bank holiday weekend, traffic management measures will be in place.
Access to local businesses, including Brockley Stores, Fountain Timber and Bristol Airport will continue in line with the works.
Cllr Hannah Young, executive member for Highways and Transport at North Somerset Council, said: “Thank you very much for bearing with us as we near the completion of this scheme.
"The works have taken longer than expected due to the site’s complexity."
The Brockley Combe changes include:
- New bus lanes Bristol and Congresbury-bound tackling delays caused for buses heading from the airport and in both directions on the A370;
- Changing the current right turn into Brockley Lane and moving it to Chelvey Road further on the A370, to enable the junction to work more efficiently in light of the increasing number of vehicles using the junction.
