IT'S good to be back for what is my second week writing a column here about the Weston Business Improvement District.
If you had read my column last week, you’ll have seen that I promised this time to write about events and how the BID team are involved.
Partnership is key to Weston’s events programme, and we are fortunate to have some amazing indoor and outdoor spaces in the town to hold a variety of different events.
The Winter Gardens and Italian Gardens both work incredibly well together for events such as the ever popular Eat Weston festival, whilst the beach lawns play host to some excellent outdoor events for our community and visitors to enjoy, particularly during the summer.
The BID Street Wardens assist with a visible and hands-on presence during the events in the town, whilst the BID ‘back office’ team support the work behind the scenes with event management plans and associated work.
As we finally head into spring, we have some excellent events coming up that I wanted to make you aware of; there really is something for everyone.
First up, the Eat Festival is back in Weston on Saturday, April 13 on the Italian Gardens from 10am to 4pm.
I hope the spring weather is kind to all of the traders and visitors on the day and I’d urge people to head in to town and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some al fresco dining and peruse the local shops.
I’m delighted that our colleagues at North Somerset Council have been able to facilitate the Weston Bike Night monthly meetings being able to stay on our seafront.
These will return on Thursday, May 2 and it’s always a spectacle for the eyes and ears to see so many motorbikes on the beach lawns, all raising money for charity too.
You can find details of our town centre and seafront events on our social media channels (Weston BID) and there’s more cultural activities and events thanks to Super Culture, plus a regular programme of activities for all within The Sovereign.
It would be remiss of me to have a column about events and not give a mention to two of our well-loved events; Weston Carnival and our Christmas Lights Switch On, being held on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 23, respectively.
Have a wonderful Easter and enjoy the bank holiday here in Weston. Let’s hope it’s a super one for everyone.
