WHATEVER you are planning, whether it be heading to a music festival or having a long walk with family, there’s nothing like a tasty breakfast to get you set up for the day.

That’s why, when I realised that Weston’s Bistrot Pierre served breakfast, I just had to try it.

The French restaurant, situated close to The Grand Pier, serves a wide range of dishes in the morning, such as eggs Benedict, a traditional English, lighter bites and even steak and eggs.

For me and my partner, it was a no brainer - we just had to try it. Here’s what we thought.

Décor

Let’s start with the décor. When we first walked in the restaurant, we were impressed by the modern vibe. Downstairs, in the bar area, there were high tables, booths and of course traditional dining tables.

We were also impressed by the general cleanliness of the business. Despite there being only one member of staff behind the bar when we walked in, the tables were kept clean and tidy, standards which were maintained even as the restaurant got busier.

The service was very good, too. Although there was a bit of a wait on account of the waiter having to serve and make drinks for multiple tables, we were still greeted with a friendly smile and given top-notch service.

The food

Now, to the food. Having looked at the menu online beforehand, it was non-negotiable that one of us would have to have steak and eggs, since we had never seen that offered for breakfast before.

I took the short straw on this (not really), whilst my partner opted for the traditional English.

We both ordered a latte and a juice each, which were included in the £12.50 ‘menu complet’ deal.

Whilst the steak was a £2 supplement, we were still very impressed by the value for money. As my partner aptly put it: “It’s good value for the amount you get, you wouldn’t get this in many places.”

When the food came out, I was so grateful to my past self for choosing the steak dish, which featured tomatoes, two friend eggs, British bavette cut minute steak, chives, and sourdough croûtes.

The steak, which helpfully came with a steak knife, was succulent and full of flavour, whilst the eggs were runny enough to dip the sourdough in.

My partner seemed to enjoy his English breakfast too. I had a sneaky taste of some of the bacon and the herb sausages, both of which were delicious.

He said: “I would definitely have this again, it makes me want to have lunch or dinner here.”

We couldn’t help but compare this to other breakfasts that we have had throughout Somerset and Wiltshire, and we both agreed that the scenic views, along with the taste and value for money, made this one of the best breakfasts we have had.

I also glanced at the bar and drinks menu during our visit. If you've never been to Bistrot Pierre, it looks like it would be the ideal place to have a few cocktails either with friends or family, especially during the summer.

I would definitely recommend trying out a breakfast here. If that’s anything to go by, I would imagine that evening meals are also just as tasty. Next time I think I’ll either try a traditional English or eggs Royale, but I wouldn’t say no to having the steak and eggs again.
