RESIDENTS are being urged to help out at this year's much-anticipated GLOW Light Festival.
The Super Culture event will take place in various locations in the town centre, including Grove Park, from February 13 to February 18.
Volunteers are needed to help set up the event on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13. This will be a daytime shift of four hours.
From Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17, volunteers are needed to steward the event. This will involve working evening shifts of up to six hours with a break. Stewards will need to ensure that the public is well looked after and kept safe.
Residents are encouraged to help out with the event clean-up on Sunday, February 18. This will be a daytime shift of four hours. This could include taking down light installations and structures.
Volunteers will be offered hot food and drink in the Green Room, described as a "lovely warm space."
Posting on Facebook, Cllr Catherine Gibbons said: "Volunteer at Weston’s dazzling light festival this February half term Weston-super-Mare is being illuminated again next month as part of Super Culture’s annual light festival!
"Volunteers are always rotated around the event so that each person gets to experience different areas of the festival. Stewards could be next to an art installation, on the entrance, on the bar or even at the info tent. There’s also a lovely warm space (Green Room), where we offer hot food and drink during your break time.
"Some people prefer to do one shift during the festival and others commit to several. Whatever you can offer is very welcome.
"Being a Super Culture 'Culture Maker' volunteer (the folk in blue shirts that you're bound to have seen at any number of events in WsM) is a great way to make friends, get some experience of working at events and being involved in the local community. You'll be well looked after!
"The event simply couldn’t take place with the Culture Makers so thank you in advance.
"If you're interested in helping out at this event, please connect with Becky at becky@superculture.org.uk and she will send you all the relevant information and sign up details."
