CATS Protection has temporarily closed its Weston branch to all new admissions.
The charity, which seeks new homes for abandoned or unwanted cats, is experiencing a "real lack of fosterers" and is having to suspend its feral neutering programme.
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from Weston's Cats Protection branch said: "We are experiencing difficult times along with many other charities.
"With a real lack of fosterers we have had to take the very difficult decision to temporarily close the branch to all new cat admissions. This includes having to close our waiting list.
"This has not been an easy decision for the branch, we are hopeful this will be for a few weeks. We still have difficult cats in care, so bear with us whilst we get them ready for homing.
"At the same time we are having to suspend our feral neutering (TNR), due to the one one volunteer being out of action.
"We really hope you will respect our decision for the very short term we are closed to admissions."
