AN 80-year-old man from Wrington has raised over £8,000 following a 12-hour Spinathon challenge.
John Griffin, a spin enthusiast, invited people across North Somerset to join him in the charity event at the health club and spa at Congresbury's Cadbury House on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The money raised has been donated to the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity as well as the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
John, who regularly teaches his own classes at the health club, said: “The day was amazing and I’d like to thank all those who either took part or donated money. The atmosphere was superb and there was a really good spirit and comradery amongst those who were there on the day.
“I do have a personal connection with the Royal Marsden as my granddaughter who is 13 years old is currently undergoing treatment having been diagnosed back in May, so is certainly close to the heart.
“I hope now the cash will be used to great effect by both charities and was delighted to hand it over.
“I’m now thinking about the next challenge so watch this space!”
