Nativity at St Martin’s C of E Primary School, Weston-super-Mare. (Image: St Martin’s C of E Primary School)Speaking about how the proceeds of the nativity show will be spent, a spokesperson from St Martin’s C of E Primary School said: "St Martin's C of E Primary School's chosen charity for Christmas Performance donations this year is The Monkey Tree Charity.

"So far the school has raised a fantastic amount of £249.88 from parent/family donations through the Reception and Year 1 Nativity Plays.

"The Monkey Tree Charity is in loving memory of Evie Ruck, former pupil of Worle Village Primary School part of our Kaleidoscope MAT, who went on to study at Worle School and Weston College. Evie passed away from a rare form of cancer at the age of 16.

"Evie's family are hoping to raise £20,000 - the aim of the charity will be to open a subsidised cafe/restaurant opposite the BRI.  The charity-run restaurant would provide families whose loved ones are in hospital with a safe space to talk, eat and drink.  The family hope that in the future the charity will be able to provide accommodation as well."
