THE Grand Pier in Weston will be lighting up purple tonight in honour of World Pancreatic Cancer Day (Thursday, November 16).

The pier team will also welcome Jason Belcher and Jason Smith, who will be completing an impressive 24 laps of the structure.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from The Grand Pier said: "Weston-super-Mare's The Grand Pier will turn purple tonight, November 16 for World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

"As well as glowing purple, the pier will also welcome cyclist Jason Belcher who is doing a charity bike ride to raise awareness and funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of his mother, Marjorie Belcher, who sadly passed away from the disease in February 2021.

"Jason will be joined on the ride by friend Jason Smith and today they will ride 24 laps of the pier before embarking on a ride of around 100 miles around the clubs in the North Somerset Youth Cricket League later this month."
