A DISPLAY has been created in Sandford to honour the 38 fallen individuals from the area for Remembrance Day.
Martin Newman, the chair of Sandford Village Hall, and his family have helped fund the display, the focus of which are two silhouette figures from the Royal British Legion.
The men at war figure was funded in the memory of Martin's dad, Eric, who served in the Coldstream Guards. This is located near Humphry Motor Co.
Likewise, the women at war figure was donated in memory of Carol, Martin's mum, who served in the RAF. This can be found outside the village hall.
Martin told the Weston Mercury: "As a community we feel it’s extremely important to remember the fallen who gave so much to us all."
The remembrance display also features hand painted poppies, created by children at the local primary school.
Martin also donated a lightweight racing bike to raise the funds. Martin said that Mark Humphry, Robin from Sandford Spa and Martin Thatcher all showed their support for the display.
Bunting, flags and lamppost markers were donated by other members of the Sandford Committee.
