THE upcoming Fireworks at Sea event at The Grand Pier has been postponed.
The event, which was due to take place on Friday (November 3), was postponed due to concerns about the "current unsettled weather conditions."
The decision was made by a third-party company who are responsible for putting on the display.
Due to the speed of the wind, the organisation has deemed it "unsafe" for the general public.
A new date has been pencilled in for Saturday, February 17.
Those who purchased Standard or Gold tickets will have their bookings automatically transferred to the rescheduled date, once it is confirmed.
Platinum and Ruby ticket holders will receive direct communication from the events team to organise rebooking.
The Grand Pier team have expressed their disappointment and have thanked residents for their "understanding." Despite the last-minute cancellation, hopes are high that the event will take place after the New Year.
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from The Grand Pier said: "It is with heavy heart that we are announcing that unfortunately, we are having to postpone our Fireworks at Sea event due to take place this Friday.
"The decision has been made by the third-party company responsible for putting on the annual fireworks display. They have raised concerns regarding the current unsettled weather conditions sweeping across the UK and the unpredictable direction and speed of the wind, deeming it unsafe for the general public to enjoy the display.
"We are actively working to secure a new date, tentatively set for Saturday, February 17, 2024, pending final confirmation.
"For all our Standard and Gold ticket holders, your bookings will be automatically transferred to this rescheduled date (once confirmed). However, our Platinum and Ruby ticket holders will receive direct communication from our Events team to organise rebooking or address any inquiries.
"If you have any questions regarding the new date, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Events team: E: events@grandpier.co.uk, T: 01934 646 155.
"Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year for our spectacular Fireworks at Sea display."
