WESTON residents have been sharing their memories of the Gaumont Cinema on the We Grew Up In Weston-super-Mare Facebook page.
The old cinema was located on Regent Street. The building was demolished in the 1980's.
Posting under a photo of the cinema from 1956, a commenter said: "First cinema outing I can remember going to as a kid, my uncle took us there to watch Bedknobs and Broomsticks!"
Another added: "Mmm such a wonderful building, beautiful architecture, I can't understand why it wasn't a listed building? And yet the Curzon in Cleveland is still standing."
Adding to this, another mused: "Used to go there in the old days. You had a job seeing the screen because of the smoke."
It seems that the steps outside the cinema also proved popular. One resident said: "Bet all of you sat on steps with fish and chips."
Echoing this, a commenter concluded: "Spent a lot of time sat on those steps, but well after the cinema closed."
