The Royal British Legion Weston-super-Mare Branch and Weston Air Cadets have renewed their affiliation.
This association, first established in 2011, was formally resumed last Thursday at the local Royal Air Forces Association branch.
The town's Air Cadets paraded and six new cadets enrolled, with Mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, also in attendance to mark the occasion.
Branch Chairman of The Royal British Legion, Rob Bywaters, voiced his joy at the continuation of the bond, saying the Air Cadets were "a great support at events" and "a credit to themselves and their officers."
Similarly, Warrant Officer David Mayhew, Officer Commanding 290 Squadron, pledged their ongoing support for various military and civic events.
Tradition was preserved by the signing and exchanging of certificates, following a swearing-in for the fresh cadets by Squadron Chaplain, Rev’d Ken Brown.
Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly took the opportunity to applaud the new cadets.
Supportive of both organisations and their service to the town, the Mayor extended his best wishes.
The long-standing alliance has significance for the Royal British Legion in particular, as collaborating with youth organisations aids in promoting the Legion's goals and fostering understanding of Remembrance in future generations.
