POLICE have received complaints of youths trespassing and being involved in anti-social behaviour in the grounds of a Weston nursing home.
The youngsters have been blamed for throwing stones at neighbouring properties, smashing windows and hitting residents.
Officers have stepped up patrols and worked with local schools where the youths attend.
"Several youths" believed to be responsible for the anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents will be "dealt with" by the police.
And Uphill Grange, off Folley Lane, where the anti-social behaviour has been taking place, has increased security and employed security guards to keep the youths out.
A spokesperson for the Weston-super-Mare and Worle Neighbourhood Policing team said: "Youths were getting into the grounds of the old Uphill Grange nursing home and causing problems for local residents by throwing stones at neighbouring properties and breaking windows and hitting residents with the stones.
"We:
- increased patrols around the area;
- worked with the owners to make them aware of the issues and they have increased security at the Grange by putting up fences and employing security guards;
- worked with local schools that the youths attend and they have held assemblies warning of the dangers of getting involved in ASB and trespassing;
- identified several youths who were involved in the ASB and they will be dealt with via our ASB process."
They added that patrols in the area will continue but are appealing to people to report any issues on 999 in an emergency or 101 at any other time.
