A WESTON student is gearing up to hike 500 miles for Weston Hospicecare.

Reece Coombes hopes to complete the challenge in just five weeks. He plans to climb Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis as part of the Three Peaks challenge, to name just a few of the landmarks he will tackle.

All proceeds raised will be donated to Weston Hospicecare, which provides support for our loved ones day in, day out.

You can access Reece's fundraising page HERE.

On top of this, Reece, who finished his master's course at the University of Oxford last month, will be camping every night and even wild camping some nights, putting his know-how to the test.

Reece said: “Weston Hospicecare are a truly amazing local charity, who have provided wonderful care to so many local people.

"When my Great Grandad was unwell several years ago, Weston Hospicecare gave him the best care imaginable, so I would love to help the charity give this kind of care to others in need.

“I’ve loved hiking and the outdoors for many years, but I’ve never really walked anywhere beyond the South West and South Wales, so I decided a hiking trip would be the perfect way to raise money, whilst giving me the
opportunity to explore the amazing places our country has to offer.

“This is going to be a really intense physical and mental challenge, so I’m really hoping we can raise lots of money for the amazing Weston Hospicecare to make it all worth it!”

Reece's Just Giving page reads: "I'll be hiking 500 miles around Britain during a 5-week road trip to raise money for Weston Hospicecare, an amazing local charity!

"Weston Hospicecare gives palliative care to local people with life-limiting illnesses, all completely free of charge. They have given wonderful support to so many local people during times they've needed it most, including several people close to me and my family.

"However, the charity is funded almost entirely by public donations, which is why I've decided to set up this fundraiser and help Weston Hospicecare keep providing the fantastic care they give to so many."
