A WESTON company has won a top regional award for the third consecutive year.

OTHO, located in The Boulevard, picked up the Emergency Management Company of the Year 2022/23 for the South West.

It is the third accolade the company, which helps "prepare for emergencies in an uncertain world", has won this year.

Director Tony Thompson said: "We operate globally, providing consultancy and training in emergency preparedness and disaster response to organisations and government bodies.

"For example, I have been working in Peru on a government-to-government early warning system project following the 2017 extreme weather that devastated the Peru coastal region.

"I have been designing evacuation procedures and training programmes for communities living in 11 river basins that are likely to be impacted by extreme rainfall and landslides as part of a major project that will see the installation of weather radars and monitoring equipment.

"I am currently working on a security project for a government in the Middle East and designing a training programme for planning for large scale mass fatality incidents and disaster victim identification."

Mr Thompson has a background in the Royal Air Force, British Transport Police, UK Civil Service and British Red Cross, and has plenty of experience in mass fatality emergencies in the UK and abroad.

As well as the Prestige award, other OTHO accolades this year are Emergency Management Consultancy of the Year - UK from M&A Today and a similar title from Lawyer International.

It has won a clutch of other awards in recent years.
