"WHAT good news for those cinema fans in Weston to hear that Merlin Cinemas have bought the iconic Weston ODEON and intend to reopen as soon as possible as The Plaza!
"I see that they have quite a collection of old cinemas which they appear to keep to a good standard.
"I wish every success to the new owners and I can't wait to be able to go back to a proper cinema once again; my first experience of the cinema was when I was a little boy and my mother took me to see Walt Disney's Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs in the 1950's.
"Since then I have seen so many films there and the live concerts that used to be a regular feature.
"I hope that full use can be made of the organ for concerts and accompanying classic silent films (I organized several showings of silent films up at the Curzon in Clevedon and people came from miles around to see the films).
"I hope that all those people who signed the petition to reopen the cinema will be queuing up to buy their tickets when it reopens!"
Colin Love, Weston resident.
