As his captaincy comes to an end Worlebury, Golf Club captain Barry Saunders presented the Springboard Opportunity Group a cheque for £9,000 that was raised last year in support of his chosen charity.
Springboard Opportunity Group was founded in 1986 by parents living in North Somerset and provide a safe and secure place where children with disabilities can learn and flourish.
As a pre-curser to the club’s AGM a 15-Hole Frenzy was played as a three-player Texas Scramble, the winners were Ginnette Bright, Emma and Russell Boughton.
The trio only bogeyed two of the 15 holes to finish with a gross four-under-par for a net score of 43. Runners-up were Lauren Hanson, Alix Kew and Jack Partridge with a gross 10-under-par, net 43 and in third were Darrion Ball, Ollie Oldacre and Sean Richardson who were seven-under-par for a net score of 53.
Club captain Phil Stone kicked-off the traditional captain’s Shotgun start Greensomes competition on a very wet and cold Sunday morning.
There was a full field to support Stone and the team of Hanson and Kew continued their good form, winning the competition with score of 43 points from a gross score of two-over-par 72.
Runners-up were Tom Main and Dale Randall with a gross score of 80 and 41 points and in third was Ross Macnab and Gary Marshall with a gross 77 and 40 points.
After the competition Stone announced the day had raised over had raised over £360 for this year’s Captain’s Charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
