SIX electric vehicle charging stations could be installed at the entrance to a Weston business park next to a pub around half a mile from the M5.
Gravis Planning submitted a planning application to North Somerset Council on behalf of RAW Charging on Friday, December 9.
The proposals are for “the installation of six electric vehicle charging stations, erection of associated equipment including feeder pillar and substation and installation of associated underground cabling from substation to point of connection”.
The chargers would be installed where there is an existing grass verge between The Super Mare pub in Weston Gateway Business Park and Fliers Way, just off the A370.
The planning support statement says: “The site is located within an existing area of landscaped grass verge located between the surface level car park serving The Super Mare public house and Filers Way, a slip road off the A370 dual carriageway on the eastern outskirts of Weston-Super-Mare, approximately half a mile west of the M5 (junction 21).
“The immediate surrounds are largely commercial in nature with the site being located at the entrance to the Weston Gateway Business Park.
“To the north of the site lies an area of public open space which connects through to residential development located in Diamond Batch.”
The applicant says the proposal is “fully aligned with government objectives and legislation relating to climate change, decarbonisation of development and reduction in the use of fossil fuels” and the council's aims to reduce vehicle emissions.
RAW Charging is a leading supplier of electric vehicle charging infrastructure to property owners and organisations across the UK.
The planning application can be viewed on the North Somerset Council planning portal (reference number 22/P/2946/FUL). The determination deadline is Friday, February 3.
