AT a recent Yatton Pact meeting, attention was brought to the recent rise in catalytic converter thefts in the area.

At the meeting, PC Rochford said the main area of concern for policing in Yatton and the area is the theft of catalytic convertors.

According to PC Rochford, a Jazz is the most common model targeted and people need to be vigilant.

"The crimes are mainly at night and take about 90 seconds to commit. The recompense is about £4000.00/car. Put in CCTV if possible," PC Rochford added.

Recent data from an FOI by Sky News revealed almost 100,000 thefts of catalytic converters have been recorded in three years across the UK.

The data also showed that criminals across the UK were stealing 75 per day in 2022.

In Avon and Somerset, in 2022 there were 1110 thefts of catalytic converters recorded, equivalent to 150.55 per 100,000 households
