SHOPPERS will get the chance to explore a new convenience store in Weston this week after months of preperation.
Weston mayor Cllr Sonia Russe, dressed in ceremonial robes, and her consort David Ray attended a grand opening event on Hallowe'en day when the shop was officially unveiled to the public.
The shop, a Premier outlet and attached to the Post Office counter on Alexandra Parade, will now sell the usual goodies such as sweets, drinks and household goods.
It will be operated by local restaurateur and business proprietor Sayd Ahmed who also runs the adjacent Post Office unit.
Cllr Russe said: "My consort and I were delighted to cut the ribbon to mark this long-awaited opening.
"As you can see the entrance was a cascade of balloons in the gold and purple Premier colours.
"Mr Sayd Ahmed and his lovely extended family were so excited with the final completion of the grocery store which will compliment the excellent services already provided by Sayd and his Post Office staff.
"We wish them all every success in serving the local people of our great town."
