SCHOOLS in Somerset have confirmed the appointment of a new head to lead a multi-academy trust.
The Priory Learning Trust - which oversees Priory School, Worle School and St Annes Primary School among others - has confirmed Nathan Jenkins as CEO.
After serving as interim CEO for the previous six months, Mr Jenkins will go on to directly oversee around 5,000 children up to age 18 across eight Somerset schools.
He also worked as principal of The King Alfred School Academy, in Highbridge, for three years as it saw a 'significant' turnaround in performance.
"This is a very exciting time for the trust as we continue to improve standards of education for our current students and develop our vision for the future," Mr Jenkins said.
"Our superb students and staff operate as one team across Somerset and a family of schools approach really does help our young people and communities succeed.
"Our relentless drive for great teaching and learning really does put students at the heart of everything we do."
Prior to his appointment, he served as deputy CEO for 18 months. He took over from long-standing principal and CEO of Priory, Neville Coles.
Chairperson of the trustees, Katie Dominy, said: "We thank Nathan for his time as interim and we look forward to working with him as our CEO and moving forward the future of our Trust."
