A 1.5-tonne cow had to be rescued from a ditch by firefighters last night (Sunday).
Crews from Cheddar and Bridgwater attended the cow, which had become stuck in water in Kidd Gate Drove, Wedmore, before using lines and strops to bring the bovine beast to safety.
A spokesman said: “The farmer was in the water which was 1-1.2m deep. The farmer was trying to move the cow to a lower part of the ditch.
“it was later confirmed the cow had been rescued using lines and strops and crews were now commencing decontamination.”
