A Weston resident turned 100 birthday this week, marking the occasion with a family celebration - and revealing the secret to her long life.
Edith Cook marked the occasion at the Nashley House Residential care home on Monday (April 11).
She was thrilled to have received a card from "the very beautiful Queen" and revealed the secret to living such a long life.
Edith said: "Dancing. And being on the stage of the Abby Theatre, in Dublin, from eight years old and never stopping - even for the war."
Edith has been involved in amateur dramatics her whole life and was known as Dame Edith at the Wayfarers Drama Group in Weston.
Daughter Jo and grandchildren Louisa and Grant were by her side on the big day.
Grant said: "My sister and I have lived abroad for the best part of the last decade making today even more special for us all to be together and spend quality time with Granny.
"I would like to thank Nashley House for helping to put on a great day and continuing to look after her like she is a part of their family."
